So I was in a discussion with some of my high-achieving women recently and we were talking about achieving our goals and how it can become difficult when the challenges of life come around. Some of my ladies were already losing momentum for the year, not because they didn’t know what to do but because life was already happening. So I shared some of my personal tips on goal actualization with them and it was so good. They loved it. So I decided to share them with you. I’m sure you will love it too
So today I will be sharing with you a systematic approach to setting goals and actually achieving them without overwhelm.
Ready?
Let’s go
Visualize Your Future
I’m not sure if you were expecting this first but the first step to achieving your goals isn’t writing something down just because you like it, it is writing down goals that actually mean something to you and you do that by starting from the future.
Take the time to visualize who you would like to become sometime far in the future. This picture will help you make conscious choices on how you will want to live in the present.
For example, if you desire to be a hot-looking-younger-than-your-age mama at 80, you would have to start watching what you eat now. If you want to have a family that is very close-knit irrespective of the places your family members will relocate to, you will want to invest in building a bond with your family right now that distances and relocations cannot break. And if you want to be the world’s richest woman, you will want to start working towards that which can include making your money grow and compound for you, all of which takes time. So consider what you would like your life to look like when you are old and write that picture down.
Set Your Goals
Next, with that picture firmly in mind, write down what you would like to achieve in the next 10 years, 3 years and 1 year(12 months) of your life.
After you have done that, write a letter to your future self in the next 12 months, clearly stating the things you have achieved and the person you have become.
Then with the energy that comes from the letter you just wrote, itemize all you are looking to achieve in the next 12 months based on what you have already seen in your mind’s eye
Prioritize Your Goals
After listing your goals, arrange them by priority based on which ones must come first.
Some goals will be dependent on others and therefore must come first before others.
You can use the letters A, B, and C to assign priorities where
- ‘A’ Goals that must be done
- ‘B’ Goals – Goals that should be done. They are necessary but can come after A goals
- ‘C’ Goals – Goals that are nice to have.
Next, aggregate all the A goals together based on the priority of your life areas. For example, If you have an A goal to get a promotion at work and another A goal to build a more intimate connection with your family, your goal for your family will come in higher in priority than your goal at work, This is very helpful because when rubber hits the road, you can make informed decisions based on your priorities.
Empower Your Goals
Once you’ve identified your goals, empower them by clearly defining what you want to achieve and why it matters to you. This clarity will help you stay focused and motivated when challenges come.
Another factor that will greatly empower your goal is getting accountability. Statistics show that you are most likely to achieve your goals by up to 90% when you get the right accountability. And that’s why I’m so excited about our upcoming WIN2024 accountability coaching program running from March 1 to November 30, 2024. It’s a system designed to help you actualize your wildly most important goals without stress or overwhelm so you can look at 2024 at the end and be more proud of yourself.
The WIN2024 Accountability coaching program opens soon but you can join the waiting list here to be notified when the doors open
Make your Goals actionable
At this stage of goal setting, you break your goals into clear actionable steps by clearly detailing for each goal:
- the specific actions to be taken for each goal
- the resources needed
- the actualization timeframe
- expected due date
- check-in milestones
Track for Growth
Finally, create a visual tracker to help you measure your progress towards achieving your goals. By visualizing your progress, you can stay motivated and make informed decisions to keep moving forward.
A visual tracker also doubles as a self-accountability system and/or a way to showcase your progress with your accountability coach so you both can analyze your journey and find helpful ways to optimize it.
One More Thing
To avoid overwhelm, it is helpful to identify what your greatest goal is per season, how much time it will take, what exactly you need, and what you need to let go of in your schedule, to be able to achieve that. And this is part of what we will be working through with you when you join the accountability coaching program. Doors open March 1, 2024, but you can already join the waiting list here.
In the meantime, here are some things you can do to help you deliver on your goals without overwhelm
- Please STOP social media scrolling especially early in the morning. It sucks your energy from your day
- Understand and harness your peak moments of energy
- Be extremely intentional with taking care of your body – your food, your exercise and your sleep
- Simplify your decisions so you can free up cognitive fuel for the creative things you need to do
- Journal through mental blocks and emotional challenges
- Budget your time to accommodate your goal tasks
- Break your goal tasks into as little as 15 minutes a day and work in time blocks
Alright. I hope you found that helpful.
Did any of these resonate with you? type in the comments and let me know which one it is
Praying for you and rooting for you.
You definitely can be all you were born to be
